London Strawberry Festival

Queens’ Program

 

Are you interested in traveling Ohio representing the London Strawberry Festival while meeting lots of new friends?

If yes, you may want to enter the Strawberry Queen Pageant!

 

What is involved?

The Queen and her court will travel weekends visiting various festivals and events throughout Ohio promoting London and the London Strawberry Festival.  They will enjoy luncheons, parades, tours, great entertainment, and many exciting surprises.  The royalty may be asked to speak at various events and may be interviewed by local media.  The royalty will host a luncheon on the last day of the London Strawberry Festival.

Parades

Contestants are invited to participate in both parades. Vehicle is the responsibility of the contestant. Opening parade is June 20 at 6 P.M. Line up is at 5 P.M. on Park Ave. Queens parade is on June 23 at 5 P.M. with line up at 4 P.M. on Park Ave. No judging is done during the parades.

The Competition

Applicants for London Strawberry Festival Queen will participate in several events

Contestants meeting & photos

Contestants are required to attend a contestants meeting with their parents.  This will be the last time to register as contestant photos will be taken.  The meeting will be June 18 at Cowling Park.  Registrations will be accepted 6:30-7PM.  Photos will be taken at 7PM followed by the meeting.

Interviews & Community Service

Jr. Miss & Miss Strawberry Contestants will participate in individual interviews Wednesday, June 20, 2007. Interviews will be held in the Huntington Bank.  Times will be assigned at the contestants meeting. They will also work two hours in the information booth or the shortcake tent on Wednesday or Thursday prior to the stage judging.  Contestants will sign up for work times at the contestants’ meeting.

Stage Practice

Little Miss, Young Miss, Jr. Miss, and Miss contestants are required to attend stage practice on June 20th.  Bring & wear the shoes you will be wearing in the pageant.  This will give you a better idea of walking on the stage. Girls wearing gowns may also choose to wear similar skirt.

Stage Competition

All age groups will participate in the stage interviews at the pageant beginning at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 21, 2007.  Girls will walk “runway” and answer 3 or 4 questions.

 We will move as quickly as possible through the contests.  The Little Miss contestants must arrive & be checked in by 6:45.  All other contestants need to be checked in a half hour before the scheduled start time.  Any contestant wishing a copy of her own scores may bring a self addressed, stamped envelope to the check in or enclose it with your registration.

The Queen will be crowned Saturday after the parade.

Cost

There is a $10 entry fee, which must be submitted with the application, copy of grade card & contract signature pages from the parents’ contract & queens’ contract. (Registrations submitted at the June 18 meeting must pay $20 instead of the $10 for mailed registrations). Please, make money order to the London Strawberry Festival Queens Program (do not send cash or personal checks).  Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted.

Winners will be presented:

·     A tiara and sash

·     Trophy or Ribbon

·     Crown pin or Festival button

·     Charm

·     Participation certificate

·     Photo

·     Flowers

·     Queen receives a pass down scepter

·     The winner of the Little Miss, Young Miss will receive a $150 savings bond. The winner of the Junior Miss will receive a $200 savings bond. The winner of the Miss Strawberry competition will receive a $750 scholarship to be received after completion of the first term of college.

All participants will receive

·     Trophy or ribbon

·     Certificate of participation

Please read the Queen Guidelines prior to filling out the Registration form.   All contestants must sign a copy of the 2007 queens’ contract and her parents must sign a copy of the 2007 parents’ contract.  Contract signature page must be submitted with registration, entry fee, and copy of last report card (or home school equivalent).
