We had a very tense start to our festival this year due to the continued closings from Covid-19 and the uncertainty of health regulations. Sadly many dear friends and supporters of the London Strawberry Festival and throughout the Festival community were lost.
The board worked closely with our vendors and others associated with the festival to make everything come together. Many of our contracts were rolled over from 2020. When the announcement finally came to allow festivals to re-open, most things were ready to move ahead. Despite our eagerness to move forward, there were still some challenges related to Covid-19. Extra health precautions were taken to make the festival as safe as possible.
The community was ready to be out of quarantine. We had 73 youth compete in the royalty competition. These youth and families eagerly accepted the opportunity and risks associated with traveling. Many event where our royalty normally visit still canceled their events.
The weather cooperated and we had a very good turnout for the festival. Luckily, there were no major covid-19 outbreaks following the 2021 London Strawberry Festival.
